Mike Bradeen	e00eaa74e3	res_mixmonitor: MixMonitorMute by MixMonitor ID ... While it is possible to create multiple mixmonitor instances on a channel, it was not previously possible to mute individual instances. This change includes the ability to specify the MixMonitorID when calling the manager action: MixMonitorMute. This will allow an individual MixMonitor instance to be muted via id. This id can be stored as a channel variable using the 'i' MixMonitor option. As part of this change, if no MixMonitorID is specified in the manager action MixMonitorMute, Asterisk will set the mute flag on all MixMonitor spy-type audiohooks on the channel. Mike Bradeen	907d7e7d7d	audiohook: add directional awareness ... Add enum to allow setting optional direction. If set to only one direction, only feed matching-direction frames to the associated slin factory. This prevents mangling the transcoder on non-mixed frames when the READ and WRITE frames would have otherwise required it. Also removes the need to mute or discard the un-wanted frames as they are no longer added in the first place. res_stasis_snoop is changed to use this addition to set direction on audiohook based on spy direction. Sean Bright	64906c4c9b	audiohook.c: Substitute silence for unavailable audio frames ... There are 4 scenarios to consider when capturing audio from a channel with an audiohook: 1. There is no rx and no tx audio, so return nothing. 2. There is rx but no tx audio, so return rx. 3. There is tx but no rx audio, so return tx. 4. There is rx and tx audio, so mix them and return. The file passed as the primary argument to MixMonitor will be written to in scenarios 2, 3, and 4. However, if you pass the r() and t() options to MixMonitor, a frame will only be written to the r() file if there was rx audio and a frame will only be written to the t() file if there was tx audio. If you subsequently take the r() and t() files and try to mix them, the sides of the conversation will 'drift' and be non-representative of the user experience. This patch adds a new 'S' option to MixMonitor that injects a frame of silence on either the r() side or the t() side of the channel so that when later mixed, there is no such drift. Currently, everytime a sample rate change occurs (on read or write) the associated factory buffers are reset. If the requested sample rate on a read differed from that of a write then the buffers are continually reset on every read and write. This has the side effect of emptying the buffer, thus there being no data to read and then write to a file in the case of call recording. This patch fixes it so that an audiohook_list's rate always maintains the maximum sample rate among hooks and formats. Audiohook sample rates are only overwritten by this value when slin native compatibility is turned on. Also, the audiohook sample rate can only overwrite the list's sample rate when its rate is greater than that of the list or if compatibility is turned off. Matthew Jordan	a2c912e997	media formats: re-architect handling of media for performance improvements ... In the old times media formats were represented using a bit field. This was fast but had a few limitations. 1. Asterisk was limited in how many formats it could handle. 2. Formats, being a bit field, could not include any attribute information. A format was strictly its type, e.g., "this is ulaw". This was changed in Asterisk 10 (see https://wiki.asterisk.org/wiki/display/AST/Media+Architecture+Proposal for notes on that work) which led to the creation of the ast_format structure. This structure allowed Asterisk to handle attributes and bundle information with a format. Additionally, ast_format_cap was created to act as a container for multiple formats that, together, formed the capability of some entity. Another mechanism was added to allow logic to be registered which performed format attribute negotiation. Everywhere throughout the codebase Asterisk was changed to use this strategy. Unfortunately, in software, there is no free lunch. These new capabilities came at a cost. Performance analysis and profiling showed that we spend an inordinate amount of time comparing, copying, and generally manipulating formats and their related structures. Basic prototyping has shown that a reasonably large performance improvement could be made in this area. This patch is the result of that project, which overhauled the media format architecture and its usage in Asterisk to improve performance. Generally, the new philosophy for handling formats is as follows: * The ast_format structure is reference counted. This removed a large amount of the memory allocations and copying that was done in prior versions. * In order to prevent race conditions while keeping things performant, the ast_format structure is immutable by convention and lock-free. Violate this tenet at your peril! * Because formats are reference counted, codecs are also reference counted. The Asterisk core generally provides built-in codecs and caches the ast_format structures created to represent them. Generally, to prevent inordinate amounts of module reference bumping, codecs and formats can be added at run-time but cannot be removed. * All compatibility with the bit field representation of codecs/formats has been moved to a compatibility API. The primary user of this representation is chan_iax2, which must continue to maintain its bit-field usage of formats for interoperability concerns. * When a format is negotiated with attributes, or when a format cannot be represented by one of the cached formats, a new format object is created or cloned from an existing format. That format may have the same codec underlying it, but is a different format than a version of the format with different attributes or without attributes. * While formats are reference counted objects, the reference count maintained on the format should be manipulated with care. Formats are generally cached and will persist for the lifetime of Asterisk and do not explicitly need to have their lifetime modified. An exception to this is when the user of a format does not know where the format came from *and* the user may outlive the provider of the format. This occurs, for example, when a format is read from a channel: the channel may have a format with attributes (hence, non-cached) and the user of the format may last longer than the channel (if the reference to the channel is released prior to the format's reference). Whenever possible, audiohooks and framehooks will now be copied over to the channel that the masquerading channel gets cloned into. This should occur for all audiohooks and most framehooks. As a result, in Asterisk 12.5 and up, the AUDIOHOOK_INHERIT function is now deprecated and its behavior is essentially the new default for all audiohooks, plus some additional audiohooks/framehooks. AST_AUDIOHOOK_TRIGGER_WRITE and AST_AUDIOHOOK_WANTS_DTMF were overlapping which may have caused unintended side effects. This patch moves AST_AUDIOHOOK_TRIGGER_WRITE, and updates AST_AUDIOHOOK_TRIGGER_MODE to reflect the original intention. SPEEX 32khz with translation 5. SLINEAR 8khz, 12khz, 24khz, 32khz, 44.1khz, 48khz, 96khz, 192khz with translation using codec_resample.c 6. Various changes to RTP code required to properly handle the dynamic format list and formats with attributes. 7. ConfBridge now dynamically jumps to the best possible sample rate. This allows for conferences to take advantage of HD audio (Which sounds awesome) 8. There is no reason to keep that list on the channel if it becomes empty. If it is empty that just means we are doing needless translating for every ast_read and ast_write. This patch removes the audiohook list from the channel once it is detected to be empty on either a read or write. If a audiohook is added back to the channel after this list is destroyed, the list just gets recreated as if it never existed to begin with. During the process of removing an audiohook from one channel and attaching it to another the audiohook's status is updated to DONE and then back to whatever it was previously. Typically updating the status after setting it to DONE is not a good idea because DONE can trigger unrecoverable audiohook destruction events... because of this a conditional check was added to audiohook_update_status to explicitly prevent the audiohook from ever changing after being set to DONE. It was this check that prevented audiohook inherit from work properly though. Now ast_audiohook_move_by_source is treated as a special exception, as the audiohook must be returned to its previous status after attaching it to the new channel. This is only a safe operation because the audiohook's lock is held the entire time, otherwise this could cause trouble. There are two flags being added to the chanspy audiohook here. One is the pre-existing AST_AUDIOHOOK_TRIGGER_SYNC flag. With this set, we ensure that the read and write slinfactories on the audiohook do not skew beyond a certain tolerance. In addition, there is a new audiohook flag added here, AST_AUDIOHOOK_SMALL_QUEUE. With this flag set, we do not allow for a slinfactory to build up a substantial amount of audio before flushing it. For this particular issue, this means that the person spying on the call will hear the conversations in real time with very little delay in the audio. The current method of documenting is to add (in the header file): \version <ver number> <description of changes> and then to add the function to the change list in doxyref.h on the AstAPIChanges page. Mark Michelson	9733b30ff0	Adding a new dialplan function AUDIOHOOK_INHERIT ... This function is being added as a method to allow for an audiohook to move to a new channel during a channel masquerade. The most obvious use for such a facility is for MixMonitor when a transfer is performed. Prior to the addition of this functionality, if a channel running MixMonitor was transferred by another party, then the recording would stop once the transfer had completed. By using AUDIOHOOK_INHERIT, you can make MixMonitor continue recording the call even after the transfer has completed. It has also been determined that since this is seen by most as a bug fix and is not an invasive change, this functionality will also be backported to 1.4 and merged into the 1.6.0 branches, even though they are feature-frozen. This works in much the same way as the automonitor, except that instead of using the monitor app, it uses the mixmonitor app. By providing an 'x' or 'X' as a dial or queue option, a DTMF sequence may be entered (as defined in features.conf) to start the one-touch mixmonitor. This patch also introduces some new API calls to the audiohooks code for searching for an audiohook by type and for searching for a running audiohook by type. Big thanks to joetester for writing the initial patch, testing it and patiently waiting for it to be committed.
