The reason for ensuring DAHDI 2.3 or above is that this version ensures that a timer is always available, whereas in previous versions, it was possible for DAHDI to be loaded, but have no drivers to actually generate timing. If internal_timing was turned on in this circumstance, a complete lack of audio would result. This is the reason why internal_timing was not on by default. However, now that DAHDI ensures the availability of a timer, there is no reason for this setting to be off (and in fact, it solves a great many initial user problems). Tzafrir Cohen	b05bc109de	detect ARM Linux EABI OSARCH as linux-gnu instead of linux-gnueabi * Set OSARCH to linux-gnu even if host_os is linux-gnueabi * When checking if we are Linux, check OSARCH rather than host_os The newer ARM ABI ("EABI") shows the OS name 'linux-gnueabi' rather than 'linux-gnu' . This patch sets OSARCH to be 'linux-gnu' even in such a case. OSARCH is tested for the value of 'linux-gnu' in one or two places in the tree. This patch also fixes the check libcap to check for $OSARCH rather than $host_os . A recent change to the configure script that allows the user to specify CFLAGS and/or LDFLAGS to the script had the unfortunate side effect of letting autoconf's default CFLAGS (-g -O2) feed in to the rest of the build system, thereby overriding the DONT_OPTIMIZE setting in menuselect. The configure script tests for compiler attributes didn't actually enable enough warnings or provide a proper test harness to determine whether the compiler supports the attribute in question or not; this caused gcc 4.1 to report that it supports 'weakref', but it doesn't actually support it in the way that is needed for our optional API mechanism.
