The reason for ensuring DAHDI 2.3 or above is that this version ensures that a timer is always available, whereas in previous versions, it was possible for DAHDI to be loaded, but have no drivers to actually generate timing. If internal_timing was turned on in this circumstance, a complete lack of audio would result. This is the reason why internal_timing was not on by default. However, now that DAHDI ensures the availability of a timer, there is no reason for this setting to be off (and in fact, it solves a great many initial user problems). I've also updated a few of the .tex files because they weren't properly escaping certain characters so they would show up as Unicode characters (like [U+021C]). Made changes to the configure scripts so it would detect the catdvi program which is required to convert the .dvi file generated by latex. I've also added a few lines to the build_tools/prep_tarball script so that the text documentation gets generated and added to future tarballs of Asterisk releases. Tzafrir Cohen	b05bc109de	detect ARM Linux EABI OSARCH as linux-gnu instead of linux-gnueabi * Set OSARCH to linux-gnu even if host_os is linux-gnueabi * When checking if we are Linux, check OSARCH rather than host_os The newer ARM ABI ("EABI") shows the OS name 'linux-gnueabi' rather than 'linux-gnu' . This patch sets OSARCH to be 'linux-gnu' even in such a case. OSARCH is tested for the value of 'linux-gnu' in one or two places in the tree. This patch also fixes the check libcap to check for $OSARCH rather than $host_os . We have seen a number of problems caused by poll() not working properly on Mac OSX. If you search around, you'll find a number of references to using select() instead of poll() to work around these issues. In Asterisk, we've had poll.c which implements poll() using select() internally. However, we were still getting reports of problems. vadim investigated a bit and realized that at least on his system, even though we were compiling in poll.o, the system poll() was still being used. So, the primary purpose of this patch is to ensure that we're using the internal poll() when we want it to be used. The changes are: 1) Remove logic for when internal poll should be used from the Makefile. Instead, put it in the configure script. The logic in the configure script is the same as it was in the Makefile. Ideally, we would have a functionality test for the problem, but that's not actually possible, since we would have to be able to run an application on the _target_ system to test poll() behavior. 2) Always include poll.o in the build, but it will be empty if AST_POLL_COMPAT is not defined. 3) Change uses of poll() throughout the source tree to ast_poll(). I feel that it is good practice to give the API call a new name when we are changing its behavior and not using the system version directly in all cases. So, normally, ast_poll() is just redefined to poll(). On systems where AST_POLL_COMPAT is defined, ast_poll() is redefined to ast_internal_poll(). 4) Change poll() in main/poll.c to be ast_internal_poll(). It's worth noting that any code that still uses poll() directly will work fine (if they worked fine before). So, for example, out of tree modules that are using poll() will not stop working or anything. However, for modules to work properly on Mac OSX, ast_poll() needs to be used. Russell Bryant	77a6840fd3	Add MFC/R2 support for chan_dahdi. This commit introduces official support for R2 signaling in chan_dahdi. The modifications to chan_dahdi, and the supporting library, LibOpenR2, were both written by Moises Silva. Many users are using this code, or a variant of it, in Asterisk 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6 in Brazil, México and Argentina. An unknown number of users (but at least 1) are using it in each of the following countries: Colombia, Nepal, Thailand, Venezuela, Perú, and probably others. To use this code, LibOpenR2 must be installed from http://www.libopenr2.org/. Information about configuration can be found in configs/chan_dahdi.conf.sample. The code committed is the most up to date version, which was being maintained in svn/asterisk/team/moy/mfcr2/. I would also like to include a Thank You to the many others that tested this code beyond those listed in this commit message. These are the names that I could find in the mantis issue.
