George Joseph	77d5550d14	docs: Add version information to manager event instance XML elements ... * Do a git blame on the embedded XML managerEvent elements. * From the commit hash, grab the summary line. * Do a git log --grep <summary> to find the cherry-pick commits in all branches that match. * Do a git patch-id to ensure the commits are all related and didn't get a false match on the summary. * Do a git tag --contains <commit> to find the tags that contain each commit. * Weed out all tags not ..0. * Sort and discard any .0.0 and following tags where the commit appeared in an earlier branch. * The result is a single tag for each branch where the application or function was defined. The events defined in res/res_pjsip/pjsip_manager.xml were done by hand because the XML was extracted from the C source file relatively recently. Two bugs were fixed along the way... * The get_documentation awk script was exiting after it processed the first DOCUMENTATION block it found in a file. We have at least 1 source file with multiple DOCUMENTATION blocks so only the first one in them was being processed. The awk script was changed to continue searching rather than exiting after the first block. * Fixing the awk script revealed an issue in logger.c where the third DOCUMENTATION block contained a XML fragment that consisted only of a managerEventInstance element that wasn't wrapped in a managerEvent element. Since logger_doc.xml already existed, the remaining fragments in logger.c were moved to it and properly organized.	3 months ago

There were still a few places in the code that could overflow when "packing" a json object with a value outside the base type integer's range. For instance: unsigned int value = INT_MAX + 1 ast_json_pack("{s: i}", value); would result in a negative number being "packed". In those situations this patch alters those values to a ast_json_int_t, which widens the value up to a long or long long. Joshua Colp	d0ccbb3377	stasis: Use an implementation specific channel snapshot cache. ... Channels no longer use the Stasis cache for channel snapshots. Instead they are stored in a hash table in stasis_channels which reduces the number of Stasis messages created and allows better storage. As a result the following APIs are no longer available since the stasis cache is no longer used: ast_channel_topic_cached() ast_channel_topic_all_cached() The ast_channel_cache_all() and ast_channel_cache_by_name() functions now return an ao2_container of ast_channel_snapshots rather than a container of stasis_messages therefore you can't (and don't need to) call stasis_cache functions on it. The ast_channel_topic_all() function now returns a normal topic not a cached one so you can't use stasis cache functions on it either. The ast_channel_snapshot_type() stasis message now has the ast_channel_snapshot_update structure as it's data. It contains the last snapshot and the new one. ast_channel_snapshot_get_latest() still returns the latest snapshot. The latest snapshot is now stored on the channel itself to eliminate cache hits when Stasis messages that have the snapshot as a payload are created. Previously exported symbols removed: * __ast_register_file * __ast_unregister_file * ast_complete_source_filename This also removes the mtx_prof static variable that was declared when MTX_PROFILE was enabled. Joshua Colp	d17d9a9288	json: Audit ast_json_* usage for thread safety. ... The JSON library Asterisk uses, jansson, is not thread safe for us in a few ways. To help with this wrappers for JSON object reference count increasing and decreasing were added which use a global lock to ensure they don't clobber over each other. This does not extend to reference count manipulation within the jansson library itself. This means you can't safely use the object borrowing specifier (O) in ast_json_pack and you can't share JSON instances between objects. This change removes uses of the O specifier and replaces them with the o specifier and an explicit ast_json_ref. Some cases of instance sharing have also been removed. Matt Jordan	4a58261694	git migration: Refactor the ASTERISK_FILE_VERSION macro ... Git does not support the ability to replace a token with a version string during check-in. While it does have support for replacing a token on clone, this is somewhat sub-optimal: the token is replaced with the object hash, which is not particularly easy for human consumption. What's more, in practice, the source file version was often not terribly useful. Generally, when triaging bugs, the overall version of Asterisk is far more useful than an individual SVN version of a file. As a result, this patch removes Asterisk's support for showing source file versions. Specifically, it does the following: * Rename ASTERISK_FILE_VERSION macro to ASTERISK_REGISTER_FILE, and remove passing the version in with the macro. Other facilities than 'core show file version' make use of the file names, such as setting a debug level only on a specific file. As such, the act of registering source files with the Asterisk core still has use. The macro rename now reflects the new macro purpose. * main/asterisk: - Refactor the file_version structure to reflect that it no longer tracks a version field. - Remove the "core show file version" CLI command. Without the file version, it is no longer useful. - Remove the ast_file_version_find function. The file version is no longer tracked. - Rename ast_register_file_version/ast_unregister_file_version to ast_register_file/ast_unregister_file, respectively. * main/manager: Remove value from the Version key of the ModuleCheck Action. The actual key itself has not been removed, as doing so would absolutely constitute a backwards incompatible change. Since 'core stop now' and 'core restart now' do not stop modules, it is unsafe for most of the core to run cleanups. Originally all cleanups used ast_register_atexit, and were only changed when it was shown to be unsafe. ast_register_atexit is now used only when absolutely required to prevent corruption and close child processes. Exceptions that need to use ast_register_atexit: * CDR: Flush records. * res_musiconhold: Kill external applications. * AstDB: Close the DB. * canary_exit: Kill canary process. Processing an AOC-E event that does not or no longer has a channel association causes a crash. The problem with posting AOC events to the channel topic is that AOC-E events don't always have a channel association and posting the event to the all channels topic is just wrong. AOC-E events do however have their own charging association method to refer to the agreement with the charging entity. * Changed the AOC events to post to the AMI manager topic instead of the channel topics. If a channel is associated with the event then channel snapshot information is supplied with the AMI event. * Eliminated RAII_VAR() usage in aoc_to_ami() and ast_aoc_manager_event(). Matthew Jordan	9cc1a8e893	stasis: Reduce creation of channel snapshots to improve performance ... During some performance testing of Asterisk with AGI, ARI, and lots of Local channels, we noticed that there's quite a hit in performance during channel creation and releasing to the dialplan (ARI continue). After investigating the performance spike that occurs during channel creation, we discovered that we create a lot of channel snapshots that are technically unnecessary. This includes creating snapshots during: * AGI execution * Returning objects for ARI commands * During some Local channel operations * During some dialling operations * During variable setting * During some bridging operations And more. This patch does the following: - It removes a number of fields from channel snapshots. These fields were rarely used, were expensive to have on the snapshot, and hurt performance. This included formats, translation paths, Log Call ID, callgroup, pickup group, and all channel variables. As a result, AMI Status, "core show channel", "core show channelvar", and "pjsip show channel" were modified to either hit the live channel or not show certain pieces of data. While this is unfortunate, the performance gain from this patch is worth the loss in behaviour. - It adds a mechanism to publish a cached snapshot + blob. A large number of publications were changed to use this, including: - During Dial begin - During Variable assignment (if no AMI variables are emitted - if AMI variables are set, we have to make snapshots when a variable is changed) - During channel pickup - When a channel is put on hold/unhold - When a DTMF digit is begun/ended - When creating a bridge snapshot - When an AOC event is raised - During Local channel optimization/Local bridging - When endpoint snapshots are generated - All AGI events - All ARI responses that return a channel - Events in the AgentPool, MeetMe, and some in Queue - Additionally, some extraneous channel snapshots were being made that were unnecessary. These were removed. - The result of ast_hashtab_hash_string is now cached in stasis_cache. The ast_aoc_manager_event function now publishes a channel snapshot, along with a JSON blob describing the advice of charge. A "to_ami" handler has also been added that converts the channel snapshot and AOC event data back into the appropriate data structure for use with AMI. Terry Wilson	04da92c379	Replace direct access to channel name with accessor functions ... There are many benefits to making the ast_channel an opaque handle, from increasing maintainability to presenting ways to kill masquerades. This patch kicks things off by taking things a field at a time, renaming the field to '__do_not_use_${fieldname}' and then writing setters/getters and converting the existing code to using them. When all fields are done, we can move ast_channel to a C file from channel.h and lop off the '__do_not_use_'. This patch sets up main/channel_interal_api.c to be the only file that actually accesses the ast_channel's fields directly. The intent would be for any API functions in channel.c to use the accessor functions. No more monkeying around with channel internals. We should use our own APIs. The interesting changes in this patch are the addition of channel_internal_api.c, the moving of the AST_DATA stuff from channel.c to channel_internal_api.c (note: the AST_DATA stuff will have to be reworked to use accessor functions when ast_channel is really opaque), and some re-working of the way channel iterators/callbacks are handled so as to avoid creating fake ast_channels on the stack to pass in matching data by directly accessing fields (since "name" is a stringfield and the fake channel doesn't init the stringfields, you can't use the ast_channel_name_set() function). I went with ast_channel_name(chan) for a getter, and ast_channel_name_set(chan, name) for a setter. The majority of the grunt-work for this change was done by writing a semantic patch using Coccinelle ( http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/ ).
